Nile Crocodile
Crocodylus niloticus
  • Physical description: Male Nile crocodiles can grow anywhere from 11.5 to 16 feet, where females are usually a little smaller, growing between 8 to 13 feet in length
  • Life span: Can live to 45-50 years old
  • Diet: Opportunistic ambush predator that mainly eats fish, lemurs, rodents, turtles, lizards and larger mammals
  • Fact: Madagascar may be the only place in the world where crocodiles inhabit caves.

Madagascan Giant Day Gecko
Phelsuma madagascariensis grandis
  • Physical description: 10-12 inches in length, neon bright skin of emerald green, turquoise, or deep forest green
  • Life span: Can live to about 10 years old
  • Diet: Omnivore diet of invertebrates like crabs, spiders, scorpions, and insects
  • Fact: Same species of gecko as the Geico Insurance gecko

Vanilla Vine
Vanilla planifolia
  • Physical description: brilliant green, leafy vine that uses its roots to climb and attach to tree trucks,
  • Lengths: Plant can reach lengths of 100 feet
  • Flower: Greenish-yellow flower that produces edible fruit, the fruit (pods) are better known as vanilla beans
  • Fact: Vanilla is known to help with upset stomachs
