America Recycles Day is November 15

Do you know?Since 2001, the Aquarium has recycled more than 150 tons of everything from cardboard to paper to wine corks to ink cartridges.Recycling is one of the most important actions you can take to protect the Earth. With just a few simple changes to your routine, you can make a big impact on the future of the environment. Recycling reduces landfill waste, reduces the need for raw materials, and reduces the amount of natural resources needed to create new products. Proper waste management also decreases the amount of pollutants and plastics that end up in the environment. When waste ends up in landfills, harmful gases are released, polluting the atmosphere. These gases are leading to negative environmental effects, including climate change.Recycling also protects raw materials such as trees, which in turn protects the many animals that inhabit forests. As these raw materials are reduced, so are the natural resources needed to turn those raw materials into new products, like oil.Not only can you reduce waste and pollution by recycling, but you can keep garbage out of landfills and the environment by reusing items. Carry a reusable water bottle to cut back on plastic bottle consumption, use a reusable shopping bag to reduce plastic bags and opt for secondhand items such as furniture and clothing. Here are a few resources to help make recycling waste easier for you:
