Volunteering at the Aquarium is both rewarding and fun. Volunteers enjoy the opportunity to share their specialized knowledge with the public, support a worthy mission, and have a great time.

However, volunteering for the South Carolina Aquarium does require commitment. Volunteers in most positions must complete orientation and training and agree to work at least one four-hour shift each week for a year.

Applicants must complete a volunteer application at least a month in advance of orientation. Upon completion, an Aquarium professional will contact those who are accepted into the program.

Volunteers who are accepted will then be invited to an orientation session and complete any necessary training for their positions. Soon after that, they will begin hands-on interaction with the Aquarium’s guests and animal residents!
