Embrace your creative side while surrounded by the native wildlife of South Carolina in this adults-only block printing class, led by our very own senior manager of school programs, Jaime Thom. Learn how to carve your own design and test out your print making skills, then take your carving block home with you to continue this artistic outlet. All skill levels are welcome; carving blocks, tools and other supplies are provided. Registration is $25 per member adult and $35 per non-member adult.

Believe it or not, oysters have lots of taste and a shocking amount of raw talent for stabilizing shorelines, filtering water, sheltering sea life and sustaining Lowcountry livelihoods! As part of Lifelong Learning Talks on Tap, enjoy an oyster shucking demo followed by a panel discussion featuring a variety of aquaculture aficionados — chefs, biologists, farmers, conservationists and more — to help you pry open the shell of your own oyster knowledge!

Panelists include Chef James London of Chubby Fish, Tom Bierce of Charleston Oyster Farm, Michael Hodges of the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources South Carolina Oyster Recycling and Enhancement Program, S.C. Sea Grant Consortium and Dr. Sara McDonald and Kelly Thorvalson of the South Carolina Aquarium.

Get your body moving and your blood pumping during this body weight workout class with our very own director of conservation and certified fitness instructor, Dr. Sara McDonald! This class is open to adults 16+ of all experience levels and will take place in front of the Great Ocean Tank. Member adult registration is $12 and non-member adult registration is $18.

Led by our very own graphic designer, Sierra Wheeler, this class will teach participants how to capture landscapes and aquatic animals through both still and moving imagery. All skill levels are welcome; sketchbook, paints and pencils included. Registration is $25 per member and $35 per non-member.

Combine your love of nature and history in this adults-only, one and a half hour guided walking tour with Nature Adventure Outfitters. Traverse around various habitats and the historic Wythewood Plantation over the course of the two-mile long I’on Swamp Trail. No experience is necessary, and guests of all activity levels welcome; the trail is relatively flat with occasional “off-trail” hiking. Registration is $25 per member adult.
