February 21- Reptile Discovery: A Members-only Program

9:30 – 11 a.m.
Whether they slither, hop, jump, swim or crawl, reptiles are sure to fascinate every participant. See them up close and learn about what makes each of them unique in this intriguing program. Our herpetologist, Joshua Zalabak, will take you on a fun “edventure” and share what it’s like to handle the most dangerous animals at the Aquarium. In this program you will learn about how he handles venomous snakes, watch as he feeds a snake, learn how he gives Alabaster the albino alligator his annual physical and more. March 3- JumpBunch: A Members-only Program

10 – 10:30 a.m.
Back by popular demand, this 30-minute program is designed for your little ones to get their sillies out in a fun setting at the Aquarium. Jump, dance, wiggle, skip, play and have fun to music. Recommended for ages 18 months to 4 years old. Free to members. Reservations are required in advance and can be made by calling (843) 579-8518.

March 7- Toddler Time: A Members-only Program

8 – 9 a.m.
Parents and children alike love to explore the Aquarium in the morning! Our 1- to 3-year-old friends can meet exciting creatures with up-close animal encounters and have the Aquarium all to themselves before the crowds arrive. Adults enjoy complimentary coffee and muffins. Snacks for the kids will also be served. Tickets are $10 per member child, and two adults get in free with each participating child. March 11- Homeschool Explorers Club

10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Homeschooling families, enjoy a fun-filled day of hands-on education. Learn about invertebrates at the Aquarium directly from their caretakers, hold inverts in the Touch Tank, explore the water for tiny inverts that live in the Charleston Harbor, and complete scavenger hunts and educational activities. Participation is $7.50 for students in grades K-8, $11.50 for students in grades 9-12, $14 for chaperones and $5 for Aquarium Member children. Pre-registration is required. Register online here.

March 14- Loggerhead Lessons: A Members-only Program

9:30 – 11:30 a.m. Isle of Palms
Join the Aquarium and the Island Turtle Team of Isle of Palms and Sullivan’s Island at the beach for a fun and educational opportunity to learn more about sea turtles. Participants will earn passport stamps as they explore activity stations about sea turtle nesting and hatching, the dangers of beach litter and species survival, and more. Recommended for ages 5-10. Space is limited and reservations are required. Tickets are $5 per member child. Participants are responsible for Isle of Palms parking fees. To reserve your spot, call (843) 579-8518.

March 14- Wadboo Creek Paddle: A Members-only Program with NAO

1 – 4:30 p.m.
Get out and paddle with the Professional Naturalist Guides from Nature Adventures Outfitters and enjoy a breath of spring! View unique limestone cliffs, a beautiful blackwater creek basin and an old supply shack used to store gunpowder and other ruins in Francis Marion National Forest. Ages 4 and up. $50 for ages 13 and over; $30 for ages 12 and under. March 27 through April 5- The World-Famous Weeki Wachee Mermaids

Experience the magic of mermaids this spring break! The World-Famous Weeki Wachee Mermaids are returning to the Aquarium to dive in the Great Ocean Tank. Three mermaids will dance to a musical number in a 20-minute show, inspiring and delighting visitors of all ages. An additional mermaid will be available for photos in the Great Hall, and you’ll find exciting new activities throughout the building. Shows take place at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m. daily and are included with Aquarium admission or Membership.

April 11- Terrapin Trekking & Refuge Paddle: A Members-only Program with NAO

1 – 4 p.m.
Spend a fun afternoon exploring the marshes along the Intracoastal Waterway in Awendaw overlooking the Cape Romain Wildlife Refuge. The Eastern Diamondback Terrapin lives in these estuaries and tidal marshes. You’ll be guaranteed to see and touch at least one terrapin on the trip! Learn about terrapins’ conservation status and find out how to install a bycatch reduction device on a crab trap to protect terrapins in the wild. Ages 4 and up. $50 for ages 13 and over; $30 for ages 12 and under. April 24- 15th Anniversary Conservation Gala

6 – 11 p.m.
Join us for the 2015 Conservation Gala to honor conservationist Jeff Corwin with the Environmental Stewardship Award, celebrate the Aquarium’s 15th Anniversary and commemorate the opening of Shark Shallows. The festive black-tie evening will include a cocktail reception, a seated dinner and awards ceremony on Liberty Square and an After-Affair overlooking the Charleston Harbor.  Tickets will be available February 20 and may be purchased by calling (843) 579-8540.

April 25- Saltwater Sounds

9:30 a.m. – noon
The Charleston Symphony Orchestra joins the Aquarium to present a marine-inspired musical performance especially for children. Enjoy tunes by the tank and visit the Instrument Petting Zoo, where children can see, hear and touch the instruments as demonstrated by professional musicians. Saltwater Sounds is free with Aquarium admission or Membership.

May 9- Shark Shallows Grand Opening

Experience sharks at your fingertips. Join us for the premiere of Shark Shallows, the Aquarium’s newest exhibit featuring a shark touch tank. Want to be among the first to experience Shark Shallows? It pays to be an Aquarium Member! Special Members-only Shark Shallows preview events leading up to the Grand Opening will be announced soon.
