Tuesday, October 13, Good Catch teamed up with Open Blue Sea Farms to host the Cobia Cookoff at In the Kitchen with Bob Waggoner. The exciting chef showdown was followed by an Awards Reception at the Aquarium where guests enjoyed sustainable bites by Good Catch partners Cru Catering, Tristan Events, Sea Islands Grill and Michael’s on the Alley as well as local craft beer by Holy City Brewing as we presented the winner, Merry Graham, with her grand-prize trip to Panama!
During the Cobia Cookoff, all four food blogger chefs wowed the panel of Good Catch chef judges with their unique and creative dishes featuring sustainable Open Blue cobia. The panel included:
Chef Nate Whiting of 492 King
Chef Bob Waggoner of In the Kitchen with Bob Waggoner
Chef Drew Hedlund of Fleet Landing
Chef Rich Demarse of Charleston Harbor Fish House
Each recipe was judged based on best use of cobia, flavor and taste, creativity, presentation and crowd appeal.
One by one the contestants presented their beautifully-crafted cobia dishes. The judges thoughtfully reflected on each element of the judging criteria to draw their conclusion that Merry Graham’s Vietnamese Open-Faced Cobia Tacos reigned supreme!
