Embark on an adventure with a mermaid in this small-group experience for children ages 3–12 years old! Young ocean explorers will craft their own mermaid crowns and necklaces, transform into a FINtastic creature with face painting, enjoy a unique photo moment with a mermaid and more. Each day has members-only sessions as well as public sessions; registration is $65 per member child or $80 per non-member child. Each encounter is limited to 15 children (limit of two adults per child) to make this a magical and immersive experience for all. Come make waves, create treasures and leave with a sparkle of your own!

Please note: Magical Mermaid Encounters will take place at the Boeing Learning Lab at the Charleston Maritime Center, and this registration for Shimmer and Sparkle: Magical Mermaid Encounter does not include general admission to the Aquarium.

This class, led by The Little Gym of Mount Pleasant, is designed for children ages two to five and is a great way to “shake the sillies out!” $5 per child; chaperones attend for free and can enjoy Charleston Coffee Roasters coffee during the class.

Surrounded by marine life, your little music maker (ages two to five) will move and groove in this music and rhythm class by Ms. Crystal of The Music School! Registration is $10 per child; member adults attend for free and can enjoy Charleston Coffee Roasters coffee during the program.

Calling all curious kids (ages 9-11) and their favorite grown-up! Rediscover the art of in-person conversation by working through storytelling, listening and exploration exercises with Kate Jerome, award-winning children’s book author and publishing executive. On this fun and engaging adventure, get the inside scoop on marine life while you nurture and sharpen your communication skills across generations. Throughout this two-hour guided workshop, discover how conversation and storytelling skills can strengthen relationships, build confidence and community. Light exercise will occur as you walk between the Boeing Learning Lab at the Charleston Maritime Center and the Aquarium; $15 per adult and child pair.

Bring your little artists (ages seven and older) and create a sea jelly masterpiece along with lasting family memories! Led by Janell of Janellify, each of your painters will use provided supplies to paint their interpretation of a jelly, channeling our animals as inspiration. Then, take all finished paintings home to display! All skill levels are welcome and no experience is necessary. Registration is $12 per member child, $15 per member adult or non-member child and $18 per non-member adult.
