Kemp’s ridley (Lepidochelys kempii)

Case History

Folly was caught by hook and line on the Folly beach fishing pier. It appears that the turtle’s front left flipper was entangled in the fishing line because there is a deep laceration that is healing. The hook was taken out of the turtle’s mouth by the fisherman.

Treatment

Bloodwork, antibiotics and vitamins in food.

Updates

When we see the flipper laceration heal a little more we will discuss release.
