Case History

In an effort to help North Carolina facilities overwhelmed by a large number of cold-stunned sea turtles that stranded in early December, nine sea turtles were transferred to the SCA’s Sea Turtle Hospital on 13 December 2010. Sandy, the smallest juvenile admitted at only 2.36 kg, is one of seven greens received from NC.

Treatment

Upon arrival, Sandy’s cloacal temperature was only 63.8 degrees Fahrenheit. This little green received fluids, vitamin B complex, calcium gluconate, and an antibiotic.
